  • JOB SUMMARY:
    Our client, a prestigious, global AM LAW 100 Law Firm, has an immediate opening for SQL DBA with experience instegrating kCura Relativity. Must have heavy hands-on SQL DBA or Microsoft Systems Engineering experience. This role will be a liaison between the firm’s in-house Litigation Technology group, the firm’s Software Development team, and the firm’s in-house Network Engineering department. This person will be responsible for communicating with the appropriate IT personnel regarding the implementation, configuration, customization, and maintenance/performance needs of various legal specific databases, such as Elite, FileSite, Documatrix, Interaction, Relativity CarpeDiem, etc.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Coordinates with software vendors to determine frequency and necessity of patches, upgrades and security fixes.
    Instructs appropriate IT personnel as to the needs of database tuning, indexing, clustering, and redundancy matters. 
    Develops application specific solutions to case and firm requirements.
    Prepares analysis of processes, systems and applications and provides recommendations for improving them.
    Develops and executes short term and long-term plans for implementation of new systems and upgrades to existing systems in line with guidelines set by the IT department.
    Assists with the resolution of technical issues involving Legal Technology supported applications.
    Provides guidance in the resolution of technical problems.
    Evaluates software and hardware and makes recommendations.
    Researches latest technology trends both in the legal market and outside of it.
    Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients, attorneys and staff.
    Provides statistics regarding system usage and performance.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.


    ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER JOB-RELATED COMPETENCIES:
    Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2005 and 2008, including Transact-SQL, Integration Services, and Reporting Services.
    Prior experience supporting, implementing and/or administering databases.
    Thorough working knowledge or job related computer software, i.e. imaging, database and Web technology.
    Knowledge of programming principles.
    Knowledge of project management methodology.
    Knowledge of Citrix or Terminal Server a plus.
    Knowledge of Legal Key Conflicts a plus.
    Knowledge of Records Management software a plus, e.g. Autonomy Records, Accutrac Records, Legal Key Records, etc.
    Flexibility to adjust hours to meet operating needs.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.
    Ability to perform duties which require considerable judgment and initiative without immediate supervision.
    Attention to detail; organizational skills; ability to delegate and prioritize.
    Excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills.
    Ability to maintain composure, and work well under pressure.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    Bachelors degree.
    Minimum of four years of related experience.
